![]() And, at first, Rob was very skeptical of David's true intentions. Good points! Yeah, I wrote that immediately after finishing the final episode but-after having some time to really digest everything-I have a slightly different take, which is more aligned with your thoughts than my original opinion.Īdele was clearly head over heels in love with David she had built David up to be the perfect man. I knew it wasn’t going to end well for her, and I told myself I wouldn’t feel bad for her when her end came-but I ended up feeling really bad for the real Adele and Adam :( And then when David called her out on the creepiness of what she was doing, she didn’t take responsibility and put it on him for cheating on his wife. It seemed to be a game she enjoyed playing, where people’s feelings are involved. I thought it was creepy that she continued to sleep with David after establishing a friendship with “Adele,” and then I didn’t see her have any remorse for it. She should have listened to why she was doing it in the first place-which is that she was lonely, and then tried to help her find a way not to be lonely that didn’t involve David or “Adele.” Meh, sometimes listening is all you can do with people going through it. The problem is Louise’s friend was trying to tell her what to do, and that NEVER works out well. I think most of its flaws may have come directly from the source material itself since it seems like an honest adaptation, but this isn't the type of story that begs the audience to like it, it's one that's subjective. Whether or not you like it may solely depend on how you react to its big mystery reveal/twist that really transform the series into a whole other thing. It has decent production, good performances, and the writing isn't too shabby. I can't say Behind Her Eyes is great, or a series that many will remember by years end, but what I can say is that it tries. Though, you must admit after a long mysterious build-up this isn't something many will see coming. ![]() This lead certain characters decision-making to go off the rails a bit, and for some, maybe even the plot itself. They don't even have to explain it either, those supernatural elements don't have to become the main focus, so I'd like to see more series do what Behind Your Eyes does, but still, the execution here left me skeptical because the series became so reliant on these supernatural elements that weren't established from the start for its reveals, climax and conclusion. I like when shows slowly introduces and weaves supernatural elements into the main storylines (i.e. Coming off her 2020 series The Luminaries, in my opinion Eve gives a much better performance here as she plays the menacingly peculiar Adele, taking an overly formal, to the point where its almost robotic, approach to presenting the character, even switching to a more relaxed and fun take for her flashback scenes.Īs for whether or not I like the series as a whole though, I have mixed feelings. ![]() So the writing is at least considerate, the visuals are clear and shiny, it has an interesting enough premise and though the first few episodes are quite uneventful it does manages to grab and keep your attention, but I think the main factor that really carried this series throughout all 6 episodes is Eve Hewson's performance. A lot of shows have completely coincidental scenarios, even using it as a basis for the plot itself, but treats this like these kind of coincidences happens everyday to the average person. Off the bat I like the emphasis the show places on coincidences. LO-fucking-L Okay, let's see if I can summarize all my thoughts on this series into one short post.īased on the novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough, Behind Her Eyes is a psychological thriller that starts off as a look into an "unconventional" love triangle, before advancing into more ambitious territories.
